Moving Mindfully
This gentle but highly effective movement and alignment class incorporates elements from Pilates and soft martial arts (T’ai Chi and Qigong) and embodies the principles of the world-renowned Alexander Technique for beautiful natural alignment. The joints and muscles are thoroughly but safely mobilised and enlivened, with lots of attention to the breathing.
If you are new to this class, please do email Judy on movingmindfully@btinternet.com for individual advice/info. People without much of a background in mindful movement often do well to start with the online class on Wednesday evenings.
Judy Hammond has been teaching the Alexander Technique and Moving Mindfully at the Centre since 1986, and internationally, for almost as long. A trained professional dancer (ballet and Raqs Sharqi), Judy is well-known for her eclectic approach -- combining techniques drawn from methods which include T’ai Chi, Chi Kung (Qiqong) Yoga and Pilates. In 2016 she co-designed and delivered the Centre’s award-winning Positive Movement programme for older people with mobility problems or who are living with long-term conditions.
“I just wanted to say thank you for the amazing workshop on Saturday - I felt relaxed and energised for days ! Am still trying to apply some of what I learnt day to day and have signed up to your Wednesday online class. :) “
